Adam Mickiewicz University LogoThe Institute of Applied Linguistics is a research and didactic unit for training translators, foreign language teachers and cultural managers. The Institute is a part of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literature at the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, Poland.

Currently, the Institute coordinates three-year-Bachelor and two-year-Master Programs in Translation, Interpretation, Teaching German as a Foreign Language and Intercultural Communication. The B.A. and M.A. Programs provide a firm foundation in translation and teacher training studies for students in German.

Research Activities

The Institute of Applied Linguistics programmes, plans and carries out several research projects. The fields in which research is currently being carried out are: lexis, contrastive linguistics (phraseology research in Polish and German), intercultural competence issues, multilingualism in border regions, intercultural language teaching, methodology of foreign language teaching (especially of German and English) for children and adults, methods of translation/interpretation training, media and culture didactics.
